Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid investment in hydration and cargo Bought this for use in the military. Still pretty new but I am putting it through its paces. The one complaint another had is the cargo space. I find the design to be superior to others in that the bladder compartment is contoured inward to allow a flat rest on your back like a normal pack. If you have ever used a standard pack with water bladder sleve you feel like your carrying a giant tube of liquid smashed on your back. This thing takes a good beating. I flooded the interior compartments and turned it over to dump the water out and it seemed the fabric just wicked all the liquid off. (my mistake btw). Using the molle an the webbing is great. Spaced right and super easy to manipulate. Lots of options. two water port holes for routing options. Straps are really comfortable. Bladder is built like a tank. Dont know what else to say. Its expensive but, worth the investment. Way better than some amazon cheapo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phenomenal Pack I purchased the HAWG system nearly 10 years ago and since then have taken it everywhere. It has been in and out of the U.S., over seas, and in the woods. I have taken it on trips, through training, and anywhere else you can imagine. The pack has held up to it all and through all of it has only just now started showing signs of age. This is a testament to the systems durability and because of this now that I am in search of a new pack I will continue to purchase from Camelbak. While I may not be upgrading to a new HAWG system I am going the next step up to the new Motherlode system and I am absolutely sure that in the next 10 years I will not be disappointed by the pack or its quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent pack with one flaw! I had one of these older packs that I used quite a bit! After about 3 to 4 years of pretty heavy use, the only issue I had with it was some of the threading was coming undone on one of the Velcro exit ports. Sent it in to Camelbak and about a week later I had this newest one (2019) sitting in my living room. Now lets get into the flaw that my title says... One of my biggest gripes about this pack is the pockets or compartments. I have seen numerous people do reviews about this bag and some share the same complaint. I dont feel there is enough extra pockets or storage compartments on this bag to use as an EDC (every day carry). When I was looking for a new bag to haul all of my junk around with me, I was looking at this bag and the 5.11 Rush 12. I must say that the 5.11 initially sold me due to the fact that it had a ton of compartments, zippers and pockets to store your items. That was the only thing that sold me on the 5.11. In comparison, the HAWG was lighter (but still sturdy) and seemed as if it was going to be easier to get around town with. It also has a slimmer profile so your not going to be banging against door frames trying to get through them or if you're in a crowded store trying to make your way through. Another plus I found was the fact that you can tighten the straps and have the HAWG right up on your back. The 5.11 lacks this feature due to its strap system and tends to "sag" which can be a bit achy on your back if you are hauling around a full load! As far as the lack of pockets goes on the HAWG, that can be looked at in a positive way as well. It makes it simple and less complicating when you have to try and find something. Another positive about this pack is it comes with a hydration bladder whereas the 5.11 does not. I dont know about the rest of you, but if I am going to be out all day long with my wife and kids, I like to make sure that I have plenty of water available for everyone and the 3 liters has yet to run out on us. The 5.11 does not come with a bladder and from what I have read, only accepts up to a two liter bladder. That is very important if you are going to need to be out for an extended period of time. Dont get me wrong, I didnt do this review to bash 5.11. Those aren't my intentions at all as I feel they make some fine products as well as I own some and have used them for work purposes (law enforcement). I think Camelbak would knock it out of the park if they added a few mesh pockets to the HAWG just to give the user a few extra places to put their belongings. The way I have mine setup right now is I ordered a couple of little organizer pouches from ebay and store some extra belongings in it so I can have a little more organization in it. As far as the Crux bladder goes, I haven't really had a chance to run it through its paces yet so I cannot make an intelligent review about that at this time. The only negative (and I really wouldn't call it a negative) I found so far is since you are getting more water per sip, Camelbak had to make the tube a little bit bigger. With them doing that, if you have a portable water filter like a Sawyer or the likes, you are not going to be able to fit the tube around the ends of the filter because it will be too big and will not allow you to suck the water through the filter. Maybe you would be able to rig it with zipties or a little clamp but I don't know how well that will hold up and I haven't even tried to look at doing that yet. Besides that, the bladder seems to be put together very well and you don't have to suck as hard to get more water out. Other than the pockets, this bag is EXCELLENT and good to go! It will give you many years of use and does have a ton of space! Five stars and I would happily recommend this bag to anyone in the market for one! I do need to mention, I own tons of Camelbak products and anytime I have had even the slightest issue with any of them, this company stands behind their products and takes care of me!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for my use! I have the HAWG since 2016 andit has met my expectations and needs. The HAWG was approved by my employer and I carried the HAWG daily as a US Park Ranger. The clean unadorned sides were nice but, on occasion I carried another brand medium sized envelop style pocket on the back for gloves & boonie hat (no public contact wear) and I also carried a small windshield breeching tool on an outside pocket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from BLUF: Decent I bought this a bag a couple of days ago. My first opinion was that it feels cheap. The materials are adequate, but I don't know if it will last. I am amazed about the storage, it is in my opinion Big enough, being 20l it can eat my last pack twice. Made in the Philipines, I don't have a problem with that although other's Might. The Hydration Bladder Is very Adequate and does the job rather well. This bag is also comfortable and very adjustable. For the price, we shall see. I will have an update on this in a few months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Solid Bag I've taken this on more hikes than I can count. I cannot comment how on how well it handles trail running or cycling, but I've used this on dozens of summer and winter hikes (in snow) and it has held up very well. I will often use the side compression straps to attach a set of snowshoes and strap extra gear on the front using straps thru the MOLLE webbing. The only thing that hasn't held up is a few of the velcro tabs that help secure extra straps. Otherwise a totally solid pack-- I can't speak highly enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this bag - probably the best bag I have owned I have an 18 year old hawg that is my go to hiking bag. I live in the desert and have been looking for a bag that is not Made of black material. My food was getting cooked on 100 degree hikes. My only dislike is the inside Divider material is not a bright color, which makes it easier to find things.
