Rated 2 out of 5 by from Leaks All the Time! I purchased this item brand new as I have heard great things about the Camelbak brand. I used my water bottle everyday. It's especially handy when I'm at work. The only major problem is that it is advertised at leak free and I have to deal with it leaking ALL THE TIME. I'll fill up the water bottle to the 750ml line, insert the lid with the straw and after awhile, I find water leaking out of the bite valve. Sometimes, I'll go to take a dink and spill water down my shirt because water somehow pools into the area where the bite valve rests. This is really frustrating to buy a product expecting it to be leak free and then have it leak ALL over you.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Valve stops locking closed after 3 weeks I really like my Eddy (I have the insulated version) except for the bite valve. The first one I got (new from Amazon) worked for about 2 weeks before the bite valve started getting loose in the closed position. After the 3rd week it stopped locking closed altogether. I went to the Cambelback Warranty Page and easily ordered a new one, and it arrived in about a week. 3 weeks later - same thing, the valve stopped locking closed. This appears to be a design defect. Also, I've noticed as others have that after a few weeks the top starts leaking. I really REALLY want to like this, but the lid design defects keep plaguing me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaks and hard to clean Great item at first, but after just a couple of weeks the snap back of the nozzle stopped working, it has started leaking even when standing up straight? Also the inside of the lid gets mouldy and smelly very quickly (within a few hours some days). It appears that the inside of the lid - which is fully assembled and cannot be taken apart - pools water inside. Shaking vigorously gets the water out, but having to do this a few times a day to keep the water out. I would love to keep using it, as usability is fantastic! Just these few really bad traits prevents me from using this anymore, just after a few short weeks...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Product I'm not sure what people are talking about when they say this bottle leaks. I've had mine for three years and never had a problem. I also wonder if the moldy lid thing has something to do with water supply? Or heat? I live in Seattle and have yet to experience it. Recently, the hinge on the lid broke. I came to the website to buy a replacement lid and saw that I had forgotten about the lifetime warranty. Awesome! Maybe some of those reviewers who have had problems should contact customer service? Five stars all the way!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Leaky and moldy I am on my 4th Eddy and have had the same problem with every single one so this will be my last. Mold builds in the straw no matter how many times you clean it. I bought a baby bottle cleaner brush and use the tiny brush to clean the bite valve and straw. Every single time right after I clean it, it starts to leak. Water builds up in the top so when I move it, water spills out. If you could buy new tops, in the normal grey (NOT purple and red), I would consider keeping it. The plastic bottle itself is durable, but something is wrong with the top.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Moldy mouthpiece I love the idea of this water bottle but unfortunately I can no longer use it because mold is continuing to grow in the mouthpiece. I take the bottle apart and clean it every single day after use but this still does not prevent the build-up of mold! I have to use a toothpick to actually get all the gunk out of the mouthpiece. Not only is this ridiculously time consuming for cleaning a water bottle but seeing the stuff that grows in there no longer makes me want to use it. If only the bite valve mouthpiece could be made out of some other material it would be perfect!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nearly Perfect for Everyone Although it leaks occasionally, it really isn't a huge problem, and I love my CamelBak. I bought it myself from a previous recommendation and I haven't regretted it. As someone who sometimes loses things, I lost my first one, an insulated Eddy. I purchased another one, this time just an Eddy. My favorite parts about the product: -Easy to clean -Easy to assemble-disassemble -Lid-mouthpiece is usually leak-proof -AFFORDABLE --> I love that it doesn't break the bank if I replace it, and the parts are inexpensive as well! No need to buy an entire new model just because one thing isn't working-is worn out. I recommend it to everyone who needs a water bottle, and I actually did a presentation of how great it was in my marketing class.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great and then... not so much! I used the eddy daily as an active college student who swims, hikes, and dances. The eddy is a bit big for standard backpack waterbottle pockets, but the North Face Recon held it snug with a bit of a stretch. I bought the eddy freshman year, loved it the first few months, and then soon realized its faults. The bite valve lost its "snap" placement after a few months of normal use (no drops) and quickly attracted dirt outside AND inside the nozzle (brown muck inside = hard to clean). The valve leaks water when ascending small altitudes (200 ft difference in elevation), and sometimes creates a bubbling noise from a hole in the seal (due to change in pressure most likely). The eddy is best for everyday, light exercise and use. Otherwise, I would not recommend it for highly active individuals.
